Preventing Falls
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD, are at an increased risk of falls. Falls can cause serious injury and death. Falling can permanently limit a person’s mobility and independence. Direct support professionals, or DSPs, need to be aware of the dangers and risks of falls. In this course, you will learn why falls occur, how you can prevent them, and how to respond if someone does fall. The goal of this course is to provide DSPs in IDD services with knowledge of falls risks and prevention.
